About Me
My name is Methuselah Emerald Dixon Jr., but many people know me as Emerald or simply Methus. I’m a rising senior at East Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. I’m passionate about music, leadership, and living a life that blends excellence, creativity, and faith.
As an honor student with a GPA of 3.4, I am enrolled in honors-level courses. My favorite subjects include History, Orchestra, and Math; especially the challenge of equations.
I am deeply involved in music as an upright bassist with both my school orchestra and the Jazz Arts Charlotte Youth Ensemble. I play bass, drums, and piano. I started playing drums in church at the age of eight, was introduced to the bass in sixth grade, and taught myself piano, which I now also play for church services.
Outside of music, I participate in athletics including Track & Field and Cross Country, and I have played recreational and AAU basketball for several years. I also worked as a classroom assistant at Kumon Learning Center, where I helped to maintain a supportive and productive environment for young learners.
My future goals include pursuing a degree in Engineering with a minor in Music. I’m excited by the way both disciplines challenge problem-solving, creativity, and precision; whether designing structures or composing sound. I plan to continue developing my musicianship while exploring how innovation and design can shape communities and inspire others.
